In 2010, the Burton Street Community identified the opportunity to create the Smith Mill Creek Greenway. Located parallel to Patton Avenue in West Asheville, Smith Mill Creek connects the Burton St., Brucemont and Falconhurst neighborhoods.
In 2011, ADC recruited an NC State Landscape Architecture intern to conduct a feasibility study for the potential greenway. The Smith Mill Creek Greenway was also adopted into Asheville’s Greenway Master Plan in 2011.
In 2015, ADC began exploring a potential connection between the Falconhurst neighborhood and the future greenway. We have now developed draft plans for a trail system within the Falconhurst Reserve that would connect the neighborhood to greenway’s potential path.
